Maulana Khalid Dhorat

A few weeks ago, social media was abuzz at an incident that took place at a Masjid in Johannesburg. The Imam, a well-known knowledgeable, selfless and humble personality, had just polished off his biryani after conducting an excellent Jumu’ah service, and was about to lay down for his well-deserved afternoon siesta when he received a phone-call from the one-man show trustee of his Masjid. The said trustee wasn’t even present at the Jumu’ah, and so acting on the words of his “perfect” son, proceeded: “Maulana, I’m letting you know that you’re fired.”

“It’s fine with me, but be courteous enough to inform me the reason please,” asked the rather amused Imam.

“My son told me that you went against Masjid protocol by saying that by taking precautions against Covid-19 in the Masjid, you can still contract it. You said that social distancing doesn’t necessarily protect one, but Allah alone should be trusted.”

“So what’s wrong with that? You checked my lecture script yesterday,” queried the Imam, getting frustrated with an ignorant trustee who didn’t understand the basics of tawheed and tawakkul (beliefs in the Oneness and Trust in God).

“You’re fired because I said so, and that’s it. Come collect your money from my shop.”

“With pleasure. My last few month’s envelopes are still with you, so whenever I’m around, I’ll gladly do so.”

And that was it. Eight years of sterling service terminated by a mere phone call at the whim and ego of an ignorant autocratic trustee.

This article is not targeting any Masjid or trustee in particular, but if the caps fits, wear it. Nevertheless, it highlights the rather common trend on how some abusive trustees ill-treat scholars and Imams, not following any Islamic protocol or labour law imperatives when taking any decision. Some of these trustees are disgustingly scholars and Imams themselves which actually compounds the problem. It’s well known that government and world affairs are today led by the worst of people, the most corrupt, with the worst human rights record and with very little knowledge or morals, but hidden in plain sight are the leadership of some of our Masajid and Islamic institutions too.

Masaajid and Islamic institutions are today, by and large, not seen as a centre of service to humanity, but as a status symbol. So, those who have the ability of funding it, or who have social or political status, aspire to run them – and they run them just like their businesses, bereft of any moral compass, knowledge base and etiquette. Our Masaajid stand at the very forefront of our identity as Muslims, at our progress as a Muslim ummah, it plays one of the most pivotal roles as far as our role in this world is concerned, and our destiny in the hereafter. Our life and death revolves around the masjid, and it’s the yearning of many to die in a Masjid, on a Friday, whilst in sujood (prostration). It’s no ordinary building, and that’s why the first structure to be erected by our noble Prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessings be upon him) when reaching Madinah, was a Masjid.

If the Masaajid is so pivotal to Muslims, then their trustees should be the most knowledgeable, the most pious and elite, and the most decent. Is this the case? How many attend five-times daily salaat in their own Masjid, are not involved in interest-based loans, do not behave nor appear according to the sunnah, who conduct community affairs with transparency and shura (consultation), and who have a dignified demeanour? A community who has such trustees ruling their affairs should remove them and replace them with better suited candidates. If this can’t be done because many Masjids are today built and owned by rich and arrogant individuals and families, then build an alternate Masjid and run it according to proper Islamic principles. Those who support clannism, elitism and exclusivism in the name of Islam can support the crooked Masjid and continue beguiling their fantasies, whilst those humble souls who genuinely want to serve Islam and obtain correct guidance, can attend the second one. The choice would be yours.

Scholars, Imams, ‘Ulema, Shuyookh etc would also make a choice as to which Masjid to serve in. If they choose to be lapdogs and sellouts of the rulers and the rich, let them sell their souls to the devil in the Masjid for a few extra rands. Believe you me, there are hundreds like these around, including some of the Imams of the Grand Haram in Arabia! When they get a grand kick from their evil masters one day, they’ll know if they mounted a horse or a donkey. The more sincere ‘Ulema, on the other hand, should seek out Institutions which are run closer to the ideal, and if such Institutions are not to be found, they have one of two choices, and a no-choice as follows:

  1. They could either rally like-minded in the community behind them, and build their own Masjid and Islamic institutions. There is no unity on falsehood and evil. Such unity is actually a deception, because it will cause further harm to Islam down the line, endorsing rotten people, and their rotten apples. If this is not possible, they should serve Islam in their private capacity, and seek their livelihood via business or some other trade or skill. In this way, they will serve the religion with dignity, and without compromise.
  2. The no-choice option would be to continue serving under the rich and arrogant, unhappily, whilst compromising the religion. Many scholars of the past, and till today, continue exercising patience in such positions “for the greater good of the community,” but they do not realize what they can achieve via another structure, or the harm they are causing the community in the name of Islam. Interestingly, many local scholars are not towing the line anymore, so the despotic trustees hire foreigners with no command of the English language, with no understanding of the local dynamics, who willfully take orders, and who are happy to slog for a measly 30 happy meals per month. What a disgrace upon such trustees who dishonor Islam in such a way!

Let’s ask a basic question here: Will the CEO of a huge hospital which handles many critical patients, be a non-doctor? Did you ever meet the head of an accounting firm who’s not a CA or highly qualified in his field? Can a person running a tyre shop or a construction company, who flunked out of basic Madrasah, be made the head of an IT company. The answer is “no”, but you’ll sadly find these in two situations: in politics, and in religion. The Masjid trustee will boss around the learned scholar, but will not know how to even recite Surah Fatiha with tajweed (rules of pronounciation). Many trustees, if asked the following basic questions, will not be able to answer. Go on, go quiz them a bit:

  1. What are rules and regulations pertaining to waqf (Islamic endowments) in Islam, the broad difference between Zakaat and Lillah and how should they be disbursed. Is there proper financial record keeping, and no criminal record or incidences or fraud or indecent behaviuour in their social and private life?
  2. What are the principles of shura (mutual consultation), how is it administered, is it inclusive, and is the outcome according to Islam or not?
  3. What are the principles of labour law, or contracts, in Islam and SA law? Remember that the Imam is more knowledgeable than you and has been employed to lead the community. Do you feel threatened by his authority and guidance, and want to dictate to him how things must be done? Will you “work him out” if he doesn’t toe the line because you pay his salary? Does his salary cover his needs, and if it doesn’t, do you feel threatened by his “side hussle” that will slowly make him independent of you? Sadly, most hired Imams make less than what the rich give their kids for school lunch.
  4. Pertaining to ghusl (bathing), wudhu (ablution), and salaat (prayers), what are the faraa’idh, sunnah, nafl and musthabbaat. Do they have the capacity of rectifying the Imam in salaat, or continuing the salaat if the Imam breaks off mid-way?

Lastly, hats off to those trustees who fit the above bill, and who run the show properly. If not, maybe it’s time you allow for others to get involved. Your Masjid may be suffering due to you. You may think you’re the solution, but you’re actually the problem. No one owns the Masjid, even if you donated every cent of the R20 million it cost. It belongs to the Ummah.

An justifiably exasperated Brother writes:

“Please draft, a guideline for the community, to elect trustees of the masjid. At the moment, we have a board of trustees, who live with fear of creation and without the fear of ALLAH. All the decisions made from the start of the covid till date, are NOT normal according the shariah, e.g. social distancing, masks during salaah, sanitizing on entrance of the masjid, no wudhu facilities, no toilets, no maktab / madressah, no hifz classes, no programme in the masjid, etc.,etc., etc. Please educate the public on how to elect trustees of the masjid board.” (End of the Brother’s letter)

The guideline is explicitly state in the Qur’aan Majeed:

“It is not lawful for the Mushrikeen to administrate the Musaajid of Allah whilst they testify against themselves with kufr. They are the ones whose (good) deeds Are destroyed. In the Fires will they dwell forever. (At-Taubah, Aayat 17)

Only such persons administrate the Musaajid of Allah, who have Imaan on Allah, the Last Day, and who establish Salaat, pay Zakaat and fear none besides Allah. (At-Taubah,Aayat 18)

The trustees nowadays in control of the Musaajid are in the category of mushrikeen and kuffaar. All the covid measures which these scoundrels have introduced into the Musaajid are the tenets and beliefs of the atheists. These villain trustees have ‘imaan’ in the beliefs and theories of the atheists, hence they apply themselves diligently in the pernicious and satanic task of implementing the protocols of the kuffaar. In so doing, they have transformed the Musaajid and converted these Houses of Allah Ta’ala into weird temples.

The inordinate fear for the covid virus which these trustees exhibit displays their total lack of fear for Allah Ta’ala. Since fear for Allah Ta’ala is a fundamental requisite for being a mutawalli/trusee of a Musjid, all of these kuffaar-bootlicking trustees are disqualified.

It is the incumbent obligation of the musallis to dismiss these covid trustees and to elect others who are true Mu’mineen and who will administrate the Musaajid in accordance with the rules of the Shariah, not the rules and protocols of atheists as is the rotten state of affairs currently.

We have published many booklets and articles on the haraam state of affairs prevailing at the Musaajid. We have explained that the molvis, imams and trustees who support these kufr protocols of the atheists are munaafiqs.

The Shariah prohibits the appointment of faasiqs to positions of trust. This is the simple principle of the Shariah. But, since the vast majority in the community is faasiq, the people elect faasiqs to be trustees. Those who elect faasiqs to be trustees are guilty of a kabeerah (major) sin.

The haraam acts mentioned by you, which the faasiq trustees have introduced, are actually supported by evil, fussaaq molvis. The molvis who bootlick the atheists have brainwashed the fussaaq trustees into submitting to the theories of the atheists and to adopt their haraam, kufr protocols and measures which are converting the Musaajid into weird temples. Soon, if this trend continues, these transformed mosques will have no resemblance with the Musaajid of Islam – with the Houses of Allah Ta’ala just as the Christian churches and Jewish synagogues have no resemblance with the Musaajid of Nabi Isaa (Alayhis salaam) and Nabi Musaa (Alayhis salaam).

The fussaaq trustees of today are signs of Qiyaamah. Once someone asked Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam):

“When will be the Hour (of Qiyaamah)?” Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: “When Amaanat is destroyed?” The man asked: “How will be its destruction?” Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: “When trust (trusteeship) is entrusted to those who are unqualified for it, then await the Hour.”

The trustees of almost all the Musaajid are wholly unfit to be mutawallis of Musjids. Fussaaq, Fujjaar and scoundrels are today in control of the Musaajid, and these scoundrels are supported by the Ulama-e-Soo’ (Evil molvis) whose eyes are focused on the pockets of the wealthy trustees.

The Qur’aan Majeed states with emphasis that only those who fear only Allah Ta’ala should be trustees. But all of these miserable trustees fear their shadows and the atheists who have dinned it into their ears and drummed it into their necrotized brains that they are able to flee from Maut if they adopt the haraam, kufr, stupid protocols offered by them (i.e. by the atheists). That is why, the miserable, unfortunate personnel of the Musjids go about implementing the haraam measures with greater enthusiasm than even the atheists.

The community has the obligation of booting out these miserable fussaaq trustees. Their wealth and worldly status do not qualify them to be trustees of a Musjid. These miserable agents of Iblees who profess themselves as Muslims have abandoned in entirety Rasulullah’s attitude and reaction regarding plagues. They reject the protocols of the Sahaabah during plagues in order to give preference to the rubbish and shaitaaniyat which the atheists disgorge and excrete. They lap up the excretal matter of the atheists whom they are bootlicking. The molvis are the worst and the most heinous culprits in this satanic saga and plot to dismantle the Deen.

It is the obligation of the musallis to expel the fussaaq trustees and to appoint pious persons to attend to the affairs of the Musjid. The trustees have not inherited the Musaajid from their fathers. They are not the owners of the Musaajid. When trustees act in contravention of the Shariah, they should be kicked out. Never in the history of Islam have the Musaajid been converted into weird temples by Muslims. Yes, kuffaar who have conquered Muslim lands have desecrated and destroyed Musaajid. But the desecration which these vile trustees commit with the active connivance of the evil molvis is worse than the pillage and plunder of the Musaajid by the kuffaar.

Allah Ta’ala said that His Rahmat descends on the Musaajid and calamities are averted from His Houses, but these villains who have become trustees believe that the Musaajid are the worse spreaders of disease. By implication they are slandering Allah Azza Wa Jal.

The criterion for appointing trustees is the Shariah and nothing else. Wealth and social status should not be considered when appointing Musjid trustees. Fussaaq will not fulfil the huqooq of the Amaanat they have undertaken. Their objective is nafsaani and shaitaani. Allah Ta’ala is the furthest from their mind that is why they have introduced such evil and haraam methods which are most abhorrent to Allah Azza Wa Jal.

5 Safar 1442 – 23 September 2020

Each day sees a new devlish fitnah developing among Muslims. The latest satanic fitnah is a haraam membership fee to gain admission to the Zakariyya Jaame Majid in Greater Manchester, U.K. Indeed Qiyaamah cannot be in the too distant future.
A Musjid is the House of Allaah. It is a Waqf institution dedicated for only Salaat/Ibaadat, and for nothing else. Only khanaazeer can muster the shaitaani temerity to charge haraam membership fees and to allow admission into the Musjid to only such morons who have paid their haraam membership fees.
In its copro-circular, these khanaazeer of the Musjid’s management committee say: “……entry into the Masjid for any congregational Salah prayers will be LIMITED TO FULLY PAID MEMBERS, THEIR MALE SIBLINGS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 AND KEY VOLUNTEERS OF Z.J.M ONLY.” (Emphasis not ours)
These agents of Iblees conduct themselves as if the Musjid was inherited from their fathers. Paying membership fees for even an institution which is not a Musjid is haraam. For a Musjid, it is an aggravated major sin. They are reducing the Musaajid to the level of Christian temples. In fact, according to Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam), in close proximity to Qiyaamah, the cross will be worshipped inside the Musjid. These fussaaq, vile committee members are preparing the groundwork for dajjaali shirk and kufr. In fact, this haraam membership fee is riba, and preventing Muslims from entry is akin to kufr. The Qur’aan Majeed states: “Who is a greater zaalim (oppressor) than the one who prevents the Name of Allah from the Musaajid, and he strives in the ruin of the Musaajid?” (Al-Baqarah, 114)
There are no worse zaalimeen than those devils-incarnate who charge a fee for entry to the Musjid. Furthermore, the entry is restricted to select persons. It is simply mind-boggling compound kufr.
Muslims who pay such haraam membership fees are also blameworthy. Never should such haraam fees be paid. This U.K. khanaazeer Musjid committee is the very first in the whole world and the very first in the history of Islam to levy haraam riba fees for entry to the Musjid. It is the obligation of the musallis to boot out these unscrupulous scoundrels who have usurped the Musjid and treating it as if it is their private property.
Another advice is that Muslims should not attend the Musaajid where a host of satanic conditions encumbers performance of Salaat. It is not permissible to join a congregation which is filled with shayaateen. The spaces instructed by the atheists are filled with devils according to the Hadith. Just imagine! A Musjid can be entered only by hoodlums carrying membership cards.
Perform Salaat at home. It is infinitely superior than joining a fong kong congregation performing mock ‘salaat’. Such salaat is not valid. True Muslims will not make a mockery of the Deen by submitting to the haraam conditions of the atheists.
Do not contribute a cent to the vile committee for the Musjid’s expenses. Let them pay from their pockets. Allah’s Houses are being pillaged, plundered and polluted by scoundrels and munaafiqeen who masquerade as Muslims.
