“ISLAMIC” LIFE-COACHING –
A NEW SHAITAANI FITNAH OF SHIRK AND KUFR
QUESTION
Assalaamu alaikum! Recently it has come to my attention that a new fitna is starting amongst Muslims. Women are beginning to attend so-called “Islamic” life coaching classes. The problem with these courses is that they use the hadith “I behave with my slave as he thinks of me”, and incorporate new age concepts that stem from Budhism. They however take Allah’s name yet quote non-Muslims and instead of saying visualize good they say make a shukr jar and shukr will be a means of attaining ones dream job and holiday etc. What is the fatwa of the Shariah on such classes?
ANSWER
Those who attend these classes of shirk and kufr lose their Imaan. Only ‘Muslims’ whose Imaan dangles by a thread will participate in these shaitani classes. The use of the Name of Allah Ta’ala is both deceptive and sacrilegious.
All exercises based on the concepts of other religions and ideologies are shirk which eliminates Imaan. Allah Ta’ala says in the Qur’aan Majeed:
“Whoever searches for a religion other than Islam, never ever will it be accepted from him (or her), and in the Hereafter he (or she) will be among the khaasireen (those destroyed and condemned to Jahannam).”
(Aal Imraan, Aayat 85)
Once trapped in the satanic tentacles of these shirk and kufr ideologies, extrication becomes almost impossible. All these alien ideologies in terms of Islam are religions of Satanism. Islamic terminology is deceptively used to bait and trap Muslims of weak and deficient Imaan. Beware of these snares of shaitaan. Participation in these classes of shirk eliminates Imaan.

Not all muslim life coaches are advocating new age thinking. Just a heads up. Some are just trying to help people focus on the good and the goals in their lives. Jazak Allah Khayr

Are most of these coaches ulama?

I’m unsure how to answer this. I coach as well and do not think I am an ulema. But there may be some who are. Assim al hakeem is very knowledgeable and also does coaching.
